石川郎女(詳細不詳)が、大津皇子から贈られた歌に応えて詠んだもの。
石川郎女は、奈良時代の女性歌人で、万葉集に同名の七人が登場する。贈答した相手としては、大津皇子の他、久米禅師、日並皇子、大伴田主、大伴宿奈麻呂があり、大伴安麻呂、藤原宿奈麻呂の妻としても登場する。同一人物かどうか不明だが、魅力的な女性だったのだろう。
This poem was composed by Ishikawa no Iratsume in response to a poem sent to her by Prince Otsu.
Ishikawa no Iratsume was a female poet of the Nara period, and seven people with the same name appear in the Manyoshu. In addition to Prince Otsu, she also sent poems to Kume Zenshi, Prince Hinami, Otomo no Tanushi, and Otomo no Sukunamaro, and she also appears as the wife of Otomo no Yasumaro and Fujiwara no Sukunamaro (later Yoshitsugu). It is unclear whether they are the same person, but it is likely that she was an attractive woman.
