I yearn for you much more than you think of me, even in hiding.

秋山の木の葉に隠れて流れる水のように、私こそより以上にあなたを思っています。あなたが私をお思ってくださる以上に。

鏡王女(ｶｶﾞﾐﾉｵﾎｷﾐ)は、額田王の姉で、藤原鎌足の正妻。
この歌は、中大兄皇子(後の天智天皇)への返歌として詠まれた愛の告白といえる内容。額田王は、天智天皇の寵愛を受けたわけで複雑な三角関係といえようか。
補足までに、
中大兄皇子(後の天智天皇; 額田王はその寵愛を受けた)と、藤原鎌足(中臣鎌足)は、盟友関係にあり、大化の改新(645-650)を主導した。大化改新は、乙巳の変(645; 蘇我入鹿を宮中にて暗殺)に始まり、土地や人民を国家(天皇)が直接支配する公地公民制や、統一的な税制(租庸調)、戸籍・班田制度などを導入し、国家の基盤を築いた。
Princess Kagami (Kagami no Okimi) was the older sister of Nukata no Okimi and the legal wife of Fujiwara no Kamatari. This poem can be seen as a confession of love, composed in response to Prince Naka no Oe (later Emperor Tenchi). Nukata no Okimi was the favorite of Emperor Tenchi, so perhaps this constitutes a complicated love triangle.
As a side note, Prince Nakano Oe (later Emperor Tenchi) and Fujiwara no Kamatari (Nakatomi Kamatari) were allies and led the Taika Reforms (645-650). The Taika Reforms began with the Isshi Incident (645; Soga no Iruka was assassinated at the Imperial Palace), and established the foundations of the nation by introducing a public land and citizen system in which the state (the Emperor) directly controlled land and people, a unified tax system (soyocho), and a family registration and land allotment system.
