風がそよそよと楢の葉に吹いている、この小川(御手洗川；みたらしがわ)の夕暮れは、秋の訪れを感じさせるが、(六月祓いの)みそぎ(=おきよめ)だけが、夏であることのしるしなのだった

Makes you feel like autumn is arriving.

Indicates it is still in late summer.
