右の件の歌は、左大臣橘卿の宅に在して肆宴きこしめしし時の御歌なり。并せて奏れる歌。

粟田女王の歌一首
月の出を待って家に行こう。わが髪に挿した橘の赤い実が(月光の)影に中に見えるようにしながら。
右の一連の歌は、左大臣橘卿の家で、酒宴が催された時の御歌と奏上した歌である。

粟田女王(ｱﾜﾀﾉｵﾎｷﾐ)(?-764）は、奈良時代の皇族・女官・歌人。河内女王とともに元正太上天皇に仕えた。同じく、長寿繁栄の象徴たる「橘」に掛けて歌っている。
Princess Awata (?-764) was a member of the imperial family, and a court lady during the Nara period. She served Emperor Genshoda along with Princess Kawachi. This poem, too, hangs on Tachibana, a symbol of longevity and prosperity.
