味酒の三輪の山が、青土も美しい奈良の山の、山の際に隠れ、道の曲がり角が幾重にも重なるまで、しみじみと見つづけて行きたいと思うのに、幾度も眺めつつ行きたい山なのに、無情にも雲が隠してよいものか

Nukada no Okimi
額田王が、天智6年(667)に都が明日香(飛鳥)から近江(おうみ)に移される時に詠んだ歌。「しばしばも見放(ﾐｻ)けむ山を 心なく雲の隠さふべしや」というのは、明日香を名残惜しむ気持ちを「雲が隠す」と間接的に表している。
This is a poem written by Nukata no Okimi when the capital was moved from Asuka to Omi in the 6th year of the Tenchi era (667). The line “How on earth the clouds hide it so mercilessly, the mountain I want to keep looking back at a number of times.” indirectly expresses her reluctance to leave Asuka by saying “the clouds hide it.”
