百首歌奉りし時、春の歌 When a hundred wakas were offered – a waka of spring
山深み 春とも知らぬ 松の戸に たえだえかかる 雪の玉水(ﾀﾏﾐｽﾞ)
式子内親王(ｼｷｼﾅｲｼﾝﾉｳ)
(鑑賞) 山が深く、春とも知らない庵(ｲｵﾘ)の松の戸に、美しい雪のしずくが、とぎれとぎれに落ちかかるのだ
Deep in the mountain, giving the air of coming of the spring, barely,
Falling on the pine door of the hermitage, are the beautiful drops of snow-water, intermittently.
